Smokin' Signal
The opening event for Signal Southeast Electronic Music Festival started with a bang tonight in Chapel Hill in the Great Hall on the campus of UNC-ChapelHill. The legendary Derrick May was tonight's featured performer. Derrick, one of the Belleville Three from Detroit, is credited with developing the futuristic variation on house music called "techno".
You will find CareySound with an exclusive assortment of Dynacord and Electro-Voice gear throughout all of the festival venues as it continues through the weekend. A complete schedule can be found by clicking here.
'D-LITE' ful
It was a beautiful day Tuesday for UNCG's rescheduled Earth Day Celebration an once again CareySound was there to provide the sound. The amazing Dynacord D-LITE 2000 System was the centerpiece of the system we provided along with other Dynacord and Electro-Voice gear. The D-LITE system is very sophisticated compact high performance satellite system. It is on loan to us for use on one of the venues at SignalFest in Chapel Hill this weekend and John couldn't wait to take it out for a spin.
CareySound Flies With The Big Birds
In a first for the air show, a concert, featuring pilot, longtime air enthusiast and national country star Arron Tippin was held at the heart of the flight line and outdoor display aircraft area. CareySound of Greensboro provided the staging, lights, and audio for the concert.
New Tech Downloads
We have added a couple of new files to the Software area in the Download section. The first is a zip file that contains the RACE/CrossMax transfer function settings for the new line of EV Phoenix loudspeakers. The second is a file from Stuart Schatz at Electro-Voice that calculates amplifier gains. It's a great help when deciding how big an amplifier you need for your new loudspeakers.
What Until You Experience Act Three
Act Three The official debut of the new Electro-Voice Phoenix Loudspeaker System will be at the opening event of Signal Festival in Chapel Hill on UNC's campus in the Great Hall Student Union, on Thursday April 26th. CareySound is the official audio sponsor of the three day festival. Click here to go to the SignalFest website for more information.
CareySound is proud to be the ONLY dealer for the Phoenix on the SouthEast Coast.

Rain In, Rain Out
Greensboro experienced no exception to the bad weather that plagued the east coat this weekend. We set up for the Allison King Band concert between rain outbursts and packed up several hours later in the rain with threats of tornado's without even one note being played. This concert, part of the Center Center Live events scheduled for Center City Park this week, was originally scheduled as the last concert of the 2006 MUSEP Concert Series but was postponed because of construction delays. It was shame that nobody got the hear Allison and her band yet again in the new park. Maybe next time. They would have sounded fantastic through our Cobra system.
I Didn't See You There
Center City Live Series began on Saturday. The day of activities started with Grimsley High School's Blue Steel drumline, continued with the Pink Flamingos (shown above), and finished with the Nutbush Ramblers. The weather was great and the meager crowd (however small) was enthusiastic. As part of CareySound's partnering with Grassroots Productions (the event coordinators for the park) we were there providing sound for the event. A significant part of the proceeds that CareySound collects providing production at the park is returned directly to the park to help with it's operation and upkeep.
This is just the first in a week long series of events being sponsored by the park so be sure to show your support by making time to attend the remaining activities. You can find a complete schedule of events by clicking here.

Tech Geek La Chic
In 1979 Electro-Voice published a tech paper called The PA Bible that was followed by nineteen yearly additions. EV was born a tech company and what could be more perfect for a tech company to create demand for tech products than to educate their dealers and customers on the technology.
Although the publication ended with the last addition in 1997, demand for reprints continue to this day and EV has officially republished them on their website. For those of you that might be new to CareySound, we have built our reputation on providing our customers answers to their technical questions, so in that tradition we have mirrored the entire series on our site for easy reference. You will find them in the Download Section under Tech Files.
One final note - even though this series began in 1979 and the references to specific equipment are dated, it would be a mistake to write these publications off as nothing more than a historical curiosity. The science contained in these pages and the clarity of their presentation is not dated. There is a good reason that the PA Bible is still legendary. Read them and improve your audio skills.
Spanish Night
The event is held annually to award scholarships to excellent Hispanic students to help them continue on to higher education.
I'm No Fool
April 1st is a special day for the me. It marks my marriage to my beautiful wife Lynn and it marks the official birthday of CareySound both of which occurred in 1978. The cairn seams a fitting tribute to mark the day. You can click on the image to download a desktop image (thats wallpaper to you pc types) that was graciously provided by my son John that was taken from his website Twistedsun.net where you can find all kinds of beautiful desktops to download. (yes that was a shameless plug)
If you click on the Company Info link at the top of the page and then click the History link in the side bar you will find a huge new addition of old CareySound pictures provided by my old friend Mike Armeniox form CareySound's early years. Who knows, maybe you'll find yourself in on of those photo's.
